a little yellow-key change the CNC world?
Yes, it can, on the new 10/Series IFP! The new WinLink Workstation brings the CNC into the Microsoft Windows World! A great step forward in the Open System concept:
.... all thanks to a little yellow key! Hardware Structure:
.. but it is the SW environment of the IFP which makes the great difference! Software Environment:Now the new IFP makes it possible to have User software running directly on the WinLink Workstation, with no additional hardware (apart from the new WinLink itself!) This will mean:
* Different Networking Protocols can coexist with our Communication Protocols The WinLink Workstation is 100% a PC, on which MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows can be run. It is backwards compatible, and creating customized software is simplified. The WinLink Workstation is compatible with Microsoft Windows, so it is possible for the OEM to make a huge step forward: Libraries are available in Microsoft Windows DLL format, therefore customer developed software will be greatly enhanced in terms of both look and performance! Creating user software, and also executing off-the-shelf programs (even interacting with ISA boards) is simple: even huge CAD Packages can be executed. This means:
In this new version, the Front Panel simultaneously performs as:
Both of these roles are performed on a single piece of hardware, the new IFP, communicating with the CNC rack through separate communication lines, enabling the two tasks to be performed rapidly and without mutual exclusions i.e.
The yellow-key is simply the magic button for switching between the two environments! - both environments are still fully operational, even when deprived of keyboard and screen resources. Therefore, the PC might calculate new ISO profiles through a CAD program and transfer it on-line via the Parallel Link, while the CNC keeps on machining parts while the Standard screen can display the axis positions during the machining. The OEM can also choose, for special requirements, an alternative PC either Industrial or even Standard Office, to be the engine of the IFP architecture. The IFP would then be composed of the user PC and a new Yellow Key STD Operator Panel, including CRT screen, keyboard and switching circuitry. Pictorial Schematics:
